Massage can help alleviate muscle tension, soothe chronic pain, increase range of motion, and increase circulation. Massage also promotes the healing of injured soft muscle tissue and improves posture. Additionally, research finds that massage can decrease symptoms of anxiety and depression by decreasing harmful cortisol levels throughout the body and increasing the beneficial neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine. Studies also show massage to be beneficial to the immune system. Overall, massage produces a sense of well-being, promotes quality sleep, and can also enhance concentration.
Neuromuscular therapy utilizes static pressure on specific myofascial points to relieve pain. The neuromuscular therapy technique manipulates the soft muscle tissue (muscles, tendons, and connective tissue) to balance the central nervous system. It normalizes body posture by selectively loosening tight muscles and connective tissue. Neuromuscular therapy is the least invasive, yet most effective approach to relieving chronic pain. Deep Tissue Massage is aimed at deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia. Deep Tissue techniques are integrated into your Neuromuscular Massage.
We do provide massage for children under the age of 18 years old with written parental consent.
If you have a cold, a temperature, or have a contagious infectious disease, massage is contraindicated (not recommended). There are many medical conditions that are contraindications for massage. Please make certain to supply a complete medical history when scheduling an appointment and communicate any changes to your licensed massage therapist or Skin Care Specialist. It is also recommended that you do not receive massage for at least 6 – 8 weeks after any surgery. Please communicate the type of surgery performed when scheduling your appointment as this may determine the time frame when you are able to continue massage or skin care services.
